Young People’s Concert: The Rhythm of the Orchestra
A Program for Students in Grades 4 & 5

Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with Greenwich Public Schools, is thrilled to invite 4th and 5th-grade students to an unforgettable musical journey on April 8, 2025, at the Performing Arts Center, Greenwich High School. Students will experience a dynamic live performance that brings the history of rhythm and dance to life. This captivating event, held in the 1,300-seat auditorium, will be led by our renowned Music Director and Conductor, Stuart Malina, accompanied by the full orchestra, offering students a unique and enriching educational experience.
Program Highlights:
• Live Presentation: Students will explore the evolution of dance and rhythm through time, featuring pieces from classical to contemporary composers.
• Interactive Experience: Students will have the unique opportunity to interact with Maestro Malina, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the music.
• Comprehensive Curriculum Support: To enrich the experience, we provide a suite of educational materials, including:
o A pre-visit slide deck with links to source materials and recordings, designed to prepare students for the performance.
o Extension activities to deepen engagement with the themes of rhythm and dance.
o Post-visit instructional materials to reinforce learning and inspire further exploration.

These pieces will showcase the diverse influences that have shaped dance music, from the elegance of the waltz to the vibrant rhythms of swing and modern compositions.
