Gili Sharett

 

Gili Sharett has been the Second Bassoon player of the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra since 2008, in addition to being the orchestra’s Facebook Director. Gili has performed with the New York City Ballet, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, New Jersey Symphony, American Symphony, American Ballet Theater and the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta. She made her Carnegie Hall recital debut in 2004, and has also been a featured recitalist at the United Nations and the International Double Reed Society. Dr. Sharett is a member of the Ariel Winds woodwind quintet. She has performed on many Broadway shows and on Encores! at City Center. Summer festival appearances include Verbier, Brevard Music Center and Bard Summerscape. Among Gili’s numerous recording credits are The Light in the Piazza for Nonesuch (Grammy nomination), Broadway Carols for a Cure, diverse projects with John Zorn’s label, PBS Television, Stephan Sondheim, Lauryn Hill and Nathan Lane. Sharett studied with Mordechai Rechtman, Kim Laskowski, Arlen Fast, Lenny Hindell and Dennis Godburn. Gili holds a DMA from Stony Brook University and lives with her husband, trombonist, composer, and Grammy award winner Rafi Malkiel, and her daughters, Mai and Liana.
