Jeffrey Levine
Jeffrey Levine, who is a bassist and composer, has been a professional musician since his first union gig at the age of 16. He has played in big bands, smaller jazz ensembles, orchestras, shows, chamber music, and in ballet and opera orchestras. He has appeared in festivals from Italy to Alaska with many stops in between. He has recorded with such well-known names as Tony Bennett, Michael Jackson, and Judy Collins (among others) and appears on more than a half dozen chamber recordings as solo bass. He has been principal pass in the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, American Ballet Theater, Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, and has played in many other orchestras and ensembles. As a composer, he has had a Fulbright grant, a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and has fulfilled many commissions. His works are published by Suvini-Zerboni in Milan and by his own company, Music Door Editions. His orchestral essay, “Icarus” was premiered by the Greenwich Symphony under the baton of David Gilbert in 2018.
