Wendy Kain Barone
Wendy Kain Barone has been playing with the Greenwich Symphony for 15 years, having previously been the Principal Double Bass of the Albany Symphony for eight seasons. She is also Principal Double Bass of the Gateway Chamber Orchestra in New York City, as well as a busy freelancer in New York and Connecticut. She is on the faculty of the Amadeus Music Conservatory and the Bedford Academy of Music, also teaching privately. Wendy was the first Double Bass teacher to become certified at the Suzuki Institute in New York City, subsequently joining the staff. An avid educator, she was featured on Good Morning America for starting a music program at a Manhattan inner-city school. Wendy earned two Bachelor’s degrees from the Eastman School of Music; one in Music Performance and one in Music Education and graduated from The Juilliard School with a Master of Music degree in Music Performance. Having begun her studies on the double bass at the age of 15 at Greenwich High School, Wendy has always felt an affinity for the Greenwich Symphony, especially making music with her former high school teachers!
